ClayMaster Practice Drills

1. Lead methods drill – declare a “Method” day and shoot the entire practice round (50 or 100 targets) using one lead method (swing through, pull away, and sustained). Will help you to be comfortable with each lead method.

2. True pairs drill – shoot the true pairs as you would in a tournament (selecting which target to break first and then which target to break second). Shoot two true pairs in the “preferred” sequence and then switch it to shoot the two true pairs in reverse sequence (builds confidence in your target reading skills and execution)… Also, if you’re up to a challenge – push yourself to shoot the first target quicker to allow for a more favorable breakpoint for the second target.

3. Increase technical skills drill – shoot singles to hone your technical skills and target presentation expertise. Vary your breakpoints to master the target presentation and potential true pair scenarios. Also, vary your lead methods to determine what you’re most comfortable with applying on tournament day. It will help you gain confidence for any potential scenario.
